" No.. thats, it’s ok. I.. I don’t wantto go. " - he stared down at his phone in his hands," I don’t know what I’m supposed to be feeling and just being there- it won’t make my mind any clearer or explain to me why I don’t feel all that bad .. I mean..she’s my mom, if I feel bad, it’s because I don’t understand..why I don’t feel bad that she’s dying.. "
"You um… You don’t feel bad?" Jackson asked. He searched Gideon’s face for emotions. He was clearly distraught, but past that, Jackson didn’t know what was going on behind the boy’s shocked eyes. "Do you… Did you have a um… A falling out? With your mom?"
He realized how forward he was being, and started again. “I’m um… I’m sorry. I didn’t… I shouldn’t pry.”
On this momentous occasion, he was actually rather docile- and unaware of his emotionally vulnerable state- thusly his hard rouse was down.. So without hesitation, he replied, divulging something rather personal as his eyes focused on the other, older man who occupied his company as of current.. ” ..My mom. She got into a really bad accident- and shes.. in intensive care. My uncle says that the doctors aren’t confident that she’ll make it.. “
"Oh… Man… Um, Gideon, I’m so sorry to hear that," Jackson said. He set his bag down, kneeling next to the sitting boy. "Is there… Um… Where is the hospital? Can I um… drive you there?" He put his hand on the boy’s shoulder, to comfort him.
After receiving a rather distressing phone call from someone he vaguely knew, Gideon sat down on the lobby couch for the apartment building, trying to figure out what to do, and where his mind was going.. Not sure what it was he was even supposed to feel right now, he clutched his cellphone in hand and tried to figure out how to breath again..
Jackson turned around the corner, on his way to his apartment. He had a duffle bag with some changes of clothing from dancing that night at the club. He was counting a large wad of cash. Tips had been great again tonight.
As he came around, though, he stopped, and stuffed his money in a pocket. “Hey, Gideon,” he asked, coming up to the boy. “Are you… Are you ok? You look spooked…”
"That sounds like fun. I’m pretty solide, just laying on my couch watching TV. TV is such a brilliant invention."
Would you… um… Would you like to get a ahhhmm… A drink? Um… With me?
"Well, whatever works. I mean your pockets are stuffed."
"Yeah… It certainly helps make the rent… I was thinking I uh… might go spend a little of it, and have some drinks. How… um… How are you doing, tonight, Caleb?"
Jesus Christ that is a shitload of money. You made that all tonight?
"Yeah… Everyone was blasted drunk, and kept stuffing twenties and hundreds down my gogo shorts. I guess they liked watching me dance," he said, bashfully.
Man… I made some serious tip money gogo-dancing tonight… I think I deserve a shot or two!
"I’m a Nurse, so basically the same thing because while Doctors tell us how to help the patients, I’m the actual one doing the helping."
"That’s um… That’s pretty amazing, though. To um.. To be able to help people like that. I uh… I um… all I can do is dance with my um… pants off."
Yeah, working at a hospital is definitely no easy job.
"What… um… what do you do at the hospital? You’re a… um… doctor?"
I’m about to collapse
Wow… that sounds like the day from hell.
" Yeah. I." - he blinked and shook his head trying to clear his fogging mind, before turning his attention back to Jackson’s chest, and watching his fingers trail it as if in slow motion," .. Yeah.. ..Yeah that sounds..sounds good. You should uhm. you should definitely..come..by. " - Gideon’s mine slipped for just a moment as his eyes settled on the other mans navel- before jerking his entire body backwards. There was something severely wrong here.. And he needed to leave.. He needed to leave because he could recognize that he was acting out of character- and took in a shuddered breath, even as he felt the tent in his own pants," Ah.. nn.. mmn.. Yes, so I’m going.. I’m g- .. I have to. The. My door? "
Gideon’s body jerk made Jackson realize what he was doing, and jumped up. “Um! Oh uh… yeah, your door,” he said, trying to recover. He chastised himself internally. Damn it, he thought, I need to be careful!
"So uh.. yeah. Um… You should… Um… You better go meet the maintenance guy,",he stuttered, walking over and opening the door for Gideon, "so you can go um… go to work. Uh…. It was nice to um. Yeah. Nice to meet you," he said, trying to sound aloof.
" You know thats the nature of my fuckin’ life, always in trouble for some shit I didn’t cause. You know for once I’d like to get in trouble for something I did do.. " Gideon snickered as he shook his head and looked to the ceiling, " Though it technically is my own fault for locking myself out.. " - the younger man pursed his lips, before looking back over at Jackson, his eyes slowly traveling his body- despite himself. The pharamones were finally settling over him," ..Yeah..you got it. I mean.. That’s right. "
Jackson was feeling comfortable and relaxed… and forgot just how dangerous that could be. So, without thinking, he gave Gideon a sweet flirtatious grin. “Maybe I’ll stop by later and get an espresso? I love a good latte…” He looked at the boy’s eyes, caught him checking out Jackson’s body, trailing down across his naked chest. He found himself touching his chest, lightly, to draw attention to himself.
" Espresso Magic." - he replied since the other had been cut off by the phone, before standing up," Tsh.. Just perfect, I’m nearly 30 minutes late to work now, and they finally send someone over.. God man- fuck me.. " - he smiled sarcastically and shook his head," Thanks for lending me your phone, and uh- letting me wait it out here.. " Gideon stood with a nod and held up the glass of water," And for the drink. "
"Um… yeah, of course. Anything… um… For a neighbor," he stuttered. "I hope… um. That you don’t get into trouble at work. Espresso Magic? I haven’t been there yet, but I heard about it in the brochure. That’s the Veiled-only coffee shop down the street, right?"
"Oh….. shit." Caleb said, cursing himself. "This is the second time I’ve gone to the wrong apartment. This place is like a maze." Caleb smriked. "Well, I’m sorry to bother you, Mr. Brooks."
"Its… Um. It’s ok. You weren’t.. Um… You didn’t bother me," he replied, stammering a bit. "I um… I’m pretty new. I don’t really know um… I don’t know which apartment Mr. Suarez is in. Um… Or who he is," he added apologetically.
" Gotcha.. " - he replied and cleared his throat as was becoming a regular custom as he settled back a bit more firmly, crossing his legs at the knee by settling his calve on it," Uhm.. Yeah. I’m just ..I’ve got work and until I get my keys and phone I can’t go because I’ve got personal reasons for needing them both- I can’t exactly just leave without my house keys.. "
"Yeah, I hear ya. I mean, this place is pretty secure from theft, I’ve been told, but that doesn’t mean you wanna take any chances," he replied, nodding. "Where do you wor-" He was cut off by the sound of his phone ringing. Answering it, he looked over to Gideon. "It’s one of the pixies from maintenance. He says he’s at your door, and can unlock it whenever you want."
